Central Building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton Competition award, 3rd place

The design blends historical continuity with modern innovation, drawing inspiration from the Sarajevo’s 1980s golden era. The Central Building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs balances openness and security through interwoven solid and transparent volumes.
Located in central Sarajevo, it strengthens the urban fabric and establishes a new vertical landmark. The building incorporates high-performance insulation, ventilated façades, and 1,010m² of photovoltaic panels generating 11% of its energy needs.
Air-to-water heat pumps provide heating and cooling, while rooftop greenery supports insulation and CO₂ absorption. With five controlled access points, seamless pedestrian entry, and efficient vertical circulation, it ensures security and accessibility. This project unites contemporary design with Sarajevo’s identity.
